Frequently Asked Questions
To take the guesswork out of things, I have answered some of the most common questions below.
Getting Started
-
Simply fill in your Pawtrait Booking Form. Once your deposit is paid, your spot is secured.
-
I currently have a waitlist of around 3 weeks. Each piece is carefully created by hand, so I take the time needed to ensure each piece is just right.
-
Yes. A 50% deposit is required to secure your custom artwork. The remaining balance is due once your piece is complete.
Photos and Customisation
-
Clear, well-lit photos work best. Natural light is ideal, and the more detail I can see, the more accurate your piece will be.
You can read my full reference photo tips here.
-
No problem at all. You’re welcome to send through a few options. I’m always happy to help you choose the best for the most beautiful result.
The Artwork
-
I use carefully chosen, professional-quality materials to ensure each piece is both beautiful and made to last.
All of my artwork is created using lightfast materials, ensuring the colours remain rich and true over time without fading. Where appropriate, I use fixatives and varnishes to help protect the artwork.
-
Each piece is hand-drawn or painted, so while I aim for a high level of likeness, your piece will have its own artistic touch. My goal is to capture both the appearance and personality of your pet or subject matter.
Special Circumstances
-
Yes. I create many pawtraits in loving memory of pets who have passed. I will always handle these pieces with extra care and sensitivity.
-
I understand how special these pieces are. I will always do my very best to work with the photos you have and create something meaningful and true to your pet.
Delivery and Practical Details
-
Framing is not included.
As standard, all pencil pawtraits are carefully packaged in acid-free professional matting, ready to be taken to your local framer for a custom finish.
My Signature Black Edition pieces include a mat backing and are sealed in an acid-free protective sleeve to ensure they arrive safely and in beautiful condition.
-
Yes, all orders include free Australia-wide shipping. Your artwork will be carefully packaged to ensure it arrives safely, and a tracking number will be sent to you.
-
To keep your artwork looking its best, I recommend framing sketched works behind glass and keeping them out of direct sunlight and moisture-prone areas.
Final Reassurance
-
To keep commissions running smoothly, I don’t typically provide progress updates while a piece is being created. However, you’re aways welcome to reach out if you have a question about your status.
I’ll also be in touch if I need clarification on any details along the way.
-
My goal is always to create a piece you’ll love. Before I begin, we’ll discuss any important preferences, colour requests and styling details to ensure we’re working from the same vision.
Small adjustments may be possible during the process; however, major changes after completion are limited due to the custom nature of commission artwork.
-
Due to the custom nature of commissioned artwork, deposits are non-refundable once work has begun.
However, if you have any concerns, at any stage of the process, please reach out. I’m always happy to help.
In the unlikely event of damage, faults, or issues covered under Australian Consumer Law, I will work with you to find an appropriate resolution.
